1. Work-Study (WS) Supervisors are not required to complete this form if a student’s employment is being terminated for one of the following reasons:
- The student is graduating
- The student is ending work-study at the conclusion of the term they were hired for
- The student is ending work-study because they have earned the full amount of their award and is being transitioned to a departmental funding source
2. Before completing this form, the WS Supervisor should have at least one of the following:
- A written statement from the student resigning the job of their own volition
- Two or more documented conversations between the WS Supervisor and student discussing:
- The supervisor’s expectations of student performance and the student failing to meet those expectations
- Steps the student can take to meet the supervisor’s expectations
- A mutually agreed course of action for the student to take
- Confirmation from a departmental representative or shared services officer that the supervisor has met departmental standards to terminate the student’s employment
- An email to the student’s UNC email account giving the student 3 or more business days to respond before their position is terminated AND documentation from the supervisor that the student did not respond within the offered time frame
3. WS Supervisors are responsible for ensuring that student earnings through the WS program at the time of termination do not exceed the student’s Work-Study award as per program regulations. If unmet, department assumes responsibility.
4. Termination actions will be processed within 5 business days of receipt
5. WS Supervisors wishing to repost a job and need assistance should send an email to work-study@unc.edu
6. WS Supervisors are required to contact their HR Officer/Shared Services Center to terminate the student in Connect Carolina. This form only prompts us to terminate the student in JobX.
